Upgrading to Pagico 4

Upgrading to Pagico 4 is very simple. Simply download the installer package of the latest version, and install it. The system requirements have not changed since Pagico v3.x.

Once it’s installed, you will be able to create and use Pagico 4 databases.

Upgrading your existing v3.x databases

Notes

Pagico 4 utilizes a whole new data engine that provides excellent performance and stability. Therefore, a data conversion is needed if you want to use your existing databases.

The data conversion can not be rolled back. So, before upgrading, please backup your original databases (by simply duplicating them).

  1. Open one of your existing databases in Pagico 4.
  2. When prompted, proceed with the data conversion by clicking the “Continue” button.
  3. Pagico 4 will convert the data. If success, it will load it automatically after the conversion.
  4. Repeat the step 1 to 3 for all your Pagico v3.x databases.

What if something went wrong?

Although the data conversion has been tested millions of times, there is still a chance that something might go wrong (i.e. power goes off during the conversion, etc). So, backing up your original database prior to the conversion is very important.

If you can’t get your database converted after several attempts, you may send the database upgrade log to our technical support.

On Mac systems, the log file for the database upgrade can be found at: ~/Library/Logs/Pagico/dbUpgrade

I was trying to upgrade to 3.3 on my MacBook Pro and the end result was the new application would not start and it locked up my machine. Has anyone seen this on a Mac?
    Thanks,

    Hi Tony,
Did you mean Pagico locked up itself (blank screen) or Pagico locked up your entire system?

    Thanks!

Meng; sorry about the delay in responding – Pagico 3.3 lockup up the entire system. When I clicked on the pagico application there was nothing as in the application did not start, memory showed no activity, but when I attempted to get into system activity, I was not able to start that application. When I clicked on the apple icon, my system did nothing! I had to hold the power button down to restart my system. Since that time I have uninstalled this product and have not looked at it yet until now.
    Hope this answered your question.

    Hi Tony,
It really locked up your entire system? Wow that’s really surprising to me. Pagico should not be the cause of that — because Pagico does not do any of the tasks that might affect anything in your system other than the database file itself.

I’ll definitely think very hard about it, but at the mean time, I’m not sure if it’s possible or not, but please also look for other causes for that issue. I’m guessing it was caused by something else.

    Thanks!

    Hi Meng,

Yeah, I started looking at possible causes, but all my other applications are working fine. It’s just when I click on the pagico applet that’s when things go south. I thought it was strange when this happened the first time. I’ll keep looking for other causes.

    Thanks,
    Tony
