Will Pagico impose security issue on my computer?

Pagico uses web technologies to render its user interface, and server technologies to handle your actions in the software. Therefore, there is a web server running behind the scene to handle everything.

If you want a plain English answer that uncle sam can understand, that would be: Pagico will not introduce security issues to your computer. The following words are prepared for those who pursuit details.

The web engine that Pagico incorporates, is bound to the loopback network interface on your computer (with an address of 127.0.0.1), which means it won’t be able to accept any requests that are made from other computers. From another computers’ perspective, this web service does not even exist. So, it could not become a possible breach of your computer system.

Similar approach has also been implemented by big names like Google Desktop: a GUI front-end application with a web engine in the background providing feature support.

Firewall Settings: Block, or Unblock?

The answer is definitely “Unblock”, when asked by your firewall application, because Pagico will need internet access to activate, and sync with our servers to provide necessary services, such as the Channels feature.

    it’s bind to 127.0.0.1
    does it mean that someone can’t launch another webserver instance to work on web design/programming ?

    @benoit,
    That’s a great question. No, it doesn’t affect anything in terms of web server or anything like that. No worries!
