Note
This article describes a feature that is only available in Pagico v4.2 r1028 or later.
When you set a password for a database, a Sign-In screen will show up every time that database is being opened up. Starting from Pagico v4.2 r1028, you can customize the background image of the Sign-In screen very easily. Here’s an example of a Sign-In screen with custom background image.

How to
First of all, you need to go to the Sign-In screen, by using either the “Lock database” menu command, or simply closing the database and re-opening it up.
Note: You can only do this with databases with password protection. To set password for a database, please go to the database preference panel.
Then, drag an image file (jpeg, gif, png supported) into the Pagico window. The new image will take place momentarily.
Here are a few things you should know…
- Avoid using images that are too large. Using large images will greatly increase the time the Sign-In screen takes to load
- Avoid using BMP images, which are generally 10 times larger than the same images in JPEG format.
- Use wallpaper-sized images when possible. The background image will be scaled up (or down) to fit your window size.
- Background images are database-specific. That means you can have different backgrounds for different databases.

Ok, this is just not working for me. I have used .jpg files of varying sizes and drag and drop into that area does the following: acknowledges it with a “+” and then I drop it in, then I see the little filler window that shows its’ being downloaded then nothing. Where is it? How do I activate it? I am operating on macOS10.5.8 with latest updates installed.
@Francine,
Are you sure you’re using the latest (r1028 or later) version of Pagico? This is a fairly new feature.
Please let me know.
Thanks!
