Latest on Mon, 07:41 amMatt: Great product, but a question: how can I create a shortcut to an application not included in your set of 16 (?) default shortcuts? I need to replace MS Word with LibreOffice Writer - Tx
Christine: I have searched and searched and Pagico is the best. Been using it for two weeks and loving it. Looking forward to custom alerts at some point, but still, this is an amazing app!!! Thank you!
Ryo: @Chris, Pagico uses web technologies to render its UI. However, it's not really "web-based" as everything (the program and your data) are all self-contained on your computer.
Chris: Love your product, but cannot figure out: Is Pagico web based, or/and desktop?
Ryan: What kind of encryption does Pagico use when I lock a project? You guys are the best!

Transition Guide for P+ and Workspace Beta Testers
This article goes over some of the things that are important to Workspace beta testers. A server-side reset is planned on December 9th, 10:00pm, Eastern Standard Time.
What’s going to happen?
To get ready for the official release of P+ for iPad and Workspace service, we are planning to delete all our server-side data on Dec 9th 10:00pm, U.S. Eastern Standard Time. All our existing beta workspaces (including the inboxSync ones) as well as Pagico ID accounts will be erased.
To get ready for the data reset, please follow these steps:
- Back up all your databases.
- Be sure to upgrade your Pagico for desktop to the latest version (as of now, it is r1211/1212), as the last few revisions contained important bug fixes for workspace sync
- Once updated, load into your database and let Pagico sync, to get all the updated data.
- Then, switch to the “Workspaces” section, and click on the “Leave” button under each individual workspaces to, well, leave the workspaces.
Once you’re no longer associated with a workspace, all the data (projects, contact profiles) that are NOT authored (read: created) by you will be removed from your database. Things you started will still be stored in your database. (Note: Be sure to backup your databases before leaving workspaces, just in case anything weird happens).
So, what’s next?
The Workspace service is going to be officially launched on December 16th, 10am EST. Once released, you will be able to purchase individual workspaces via your Pagico ID account. Workspaces will be purchased using a subscription model with minimal monthly costs. Pricing and other details about the Workspace service launch will be discussed in a separate post.
How about P+?
For P+ beta testers, please follow these steps:
- Be sure to get all your data synchronized with our servers
- Erase the app from your device
- Purchase the app from the AppStore
What about your current Pagico ID account?
Since we’ll also erase the data on our Pagico ID server, you’ll need to re-create your Pagico ID account after the data reset. Just a small recap: your Pagico ID account will gives you access to the following things:
- Enable InboxSync (will based on a Workspace MINI and remain free) across your devices
- Purchase, renew, and manage your existing workspaces
- Access your inbox data via the web interface
While the data reset will cause inconvenience on your end, it is necessary to ensure future stability.
Taking ownership of projects or contact profiles
When you’re taking projects or contacts from others (via Workspaces), there are chances that the projects and contacts still belong to the previous owner. When this happens, you cannot share this project (or contact profile) in Workspace before taking the ownership.
To do so, simply click on the “Share” button located at the right-upper corner of the project (or contact profile), and click on the “Take ownership” menu item. This action might take up to a few minutes, depending on the size of the project (or contact profile).
Taking ownership does not change the content of the project (or contact profile) in any way. It just changes all the author identifier (embedded in UIDs) to your current author ID.
Which one is for you: Workspace, or Dropbox?
Dropbox is the best when…
If you’re looking for a solution to synchronize your database(s) across your multiple computers, and you are the only one using these databases, Dropbox is your choice. It’s simple to set up, and it works great for such scenarios.
If you are planning to work with someone else on one or more databases (possibility of reading and writing to the same database is very high), you should use Workspace, which is designed for teamwork like this.
Avoid using Dropbox when…
You should avoid using the Dropbox solution to synchronize your databases when you’re using Workspace. The same database synchronized on different computers via Dropbox will be considered to be different from the Workspace servers’ standpoint, so things will be different across your computers. But at the same time, Dropbox will try to do its job to synchronize those different copies, which will for sure confuse the Workspace servers and thus create data corruptions.
So again, when you’re using Workspace, please do NOT use Dropbox to synchronize those databases across your devices. This has been improved as of Pagico v5 r1159. You can use Dropbox (or similar applications) to synchronize your databases across computers AND collaborate with your teammates via Workspace at the same time.
Joining and leaving workspaces
Workspaces in most cases are private, which means the data being shared is protected. To join such a private workspace, one will need to be invited.
Joining an existing workspace
When you are invited to an existing workspace, you will receive an invitation code. Simply switch to the Workspace section (from the sidebar), and click on the button “Join an existing workspace” to enter the invitation code.
The invitation includes the specific ID of the workspace and your admission token, so you don’t need to worry about joining the wrong group.
Leaving a workspace
When you would like to remove certain workspace(s) from your database, you can leave the workspace. To do so, simply switch to the Workspace section (from the sidebar), hover your mouse onto the desired workspace item, and click “Leave”.
Once you’re no longer part of a workspace, all the shared projects and contact profiles from that specific workspace, except for those that were authored by you, will be removed automatically.
When the owner leaves a workspace, the workspace server will automatically promote a participant to owner. And if the last one leaves the workspace, the server will automatically destroy the workspace and all its data.
